Refurbishment of the Platform in Bahregan and Norouz Oil Field

Repairing and Painting of Hendijan, Bahregansar and Norouz Platforms

IOOC under its schedule of repair for the Hendijan, Bahregansar & Norouz oil fields, in the Northern Persian Gulf, choose (SADAF) as a specialist contractor for steelwork repairs, grit blasting and painting of several offshore platforms. The SADAF Company was responsible for preliminary studies, preparation of MTOs, method statements and the determination safe operating conditions. The scope of responsibility was as follows:

• Project Management
• Procurement
• Project Control
• Health, Safety, Environment (HSE)
• Mobilization
• Construction
• Quality Control (QC)

The work consist of 21 platforms that included living quarter platforms, production platforms, drilling platforms, wellhead platforms and connecting bridges which typically included:

• Blast washing of areas with suitable liquid cleaner or fresh water
• Repair of damaged steelwork
• Grit blasting and recoating of damaged or badly corroded areas
• Painting consisted of atmospheric, splash zone and submarine parts of platforms using high quality coating systems from foreign and local companies
• Coating systems consisted of 4 layers to produce a total DFT of 325 micron.
• Painting of the splash zone (750 mm above mean sea level to 1250 below mean sea level) consisted of a 2 layer system with 500 micron DFT)
